Golda’s Girlhood A beloved face of T&T news launches book of short stories
Every evening, when the people of T&T sat down to watch the news, Golda Lee Bruce told them the stories of their people, communities, and society. Now, years later and living in the US, she’s telling her own story. Golda will soon release her first book Born on an Island: Stories from a Trinidadian Girlhood. She says, not surprisingly, that her story is our story too, a Caribbean person confident in her identity. A UWI alumna, she recognises the role that the university played in her development and identity.
“What UWI gave me,” she says, “is a Caribbean education. It made me more aware of myself as a Caribbean person. It made me more confident, more sure, more aware of myself, and more able to share that self with the world.” Read her story in #UWIToday https://sta.uwi.edu/uwitoday/article11.asp.
