Caribbean Caterers CEO Gillian de Souza opened and ran several wildly popular fine dining vegetarian restaurants in her hometown of Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, before moving to the D.C. area.
First working as an IT professional in the corporate world when she moved to Maryland, Gillian was pulled back into the food world when former fans of her restaurants persistently requested that she create meals for them in their homes. Eventually, she realized that sharing rich, inspiring dining experiences with others was her true passion; and in 2000 she left her corporate job and opened Caribbean Caterers, building upon and moving well beyond her vegetarian roots.

At first focusing on a limited number of smaller events and headquartered in Gaithersburg, MD, the business quickly took off and in 2004 moved to its current location in North Bethesda. Word-of-mouth rave reviews have ensured the success of Caribbean Caterers from those early years until today. With an undying commitment to understanding and serving our clients incredibly well, we have had the opportunity to create one-of-a-kind events at a wide range of different venues throughout the D.C. area. In addition to personal parties and weddings, over the years we’ve become a go-to caterer for embassy events, galas, fundraisers and many more exciting events.
